To take a step forward for protecting the citizens, the government has launched the Aarogya Setu App in 11 different languages. This app uses GPS and Bluetooth features of smartphones to track the infection. It tells how many Covid-19 positive cases are likely in a radius of 500 m, 1 km, 2km 5 km and 10 km for the users. It helps in determining whether the person has been in close contact with any other infected person or not. By Aarogya Setu App the Government is informing the citizens about the risks, best practices and relevant advisories relating to the containment of Covid-19. It also provides information of health services facilities and updates from the health ministry nationally and state wise. Many companies and institutions have made download the app mandatory to their workers.

Aarogya Setu has become one of the key tools for the government in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic. The Aarogya Setu app faces the same issues as every other contact tracing technology faced. The smartphone penetration is low, hence it is limited in its reach. Data privacy is also a challenge to the government. The government also takes necessary steps periodically.
