Civilian Awards
Civilian
Awards are conferred to the people with outstanding achievements in their field
of work. These awards have been conferring since 1954.

2. Padma awards are conferred in three categories. These are following in the decreasing order of their importance.
a. Padma Vibhushan – 2nd Highest Honour.
b. Padma Bhushan – 3rd Highest Honour.
c. Padma Shri – 4th Highest Honour.
Gallantry Awards
Gallantry awards are conferred to the personnel in the field of military for bravery and valour. There are two types of Gallantry awards. These are

Wartime Gallantry Awards :
1. Param Vir Chakra – Highest military award in India. Awarded for national bravery in the presence of the enemy.
2. Maha Vir Chakra – is the second highest military award and is awarded for acts of conspicuous gallantry in the presence of the enemy whether on land at sea or in the air.
3. Vir Chakra – Third highest military award for wartime Gallantry Award.
Peacetime Gallantry Awards :
1. Ashok Chakra.
2. Kirti Chakra.
3. Shaurya Chakra.
