Ban Plastic Bags
Plastic bags are used for various purpose. The most common use of plastic bags is to carry grocery items. These are easily available in the market and thus used extensively. However, disposing these bags is a big issue as these bags are non-biodegradable.
They have become a major cause of land pollution. Used plastic bags stay in our environment for years and contribute to land and water pollution. This is the reason why many countries have banned the use of plastic bags. These countries have replaced plastic bags with paper and reusable cloth bags.

Plastic bags cause health problem in human beings as well as in animals. Waste food, vegetables and fruit peels are thrown away in plastic bags. Animals gulp pieces of plastic bags while having food. This causes various diseases and illness in them. Gulping plastic bags even choked their throat and suffocate them to death.
The chemicals
present in plastic bags contaminate the soil. They make the soil infertile and
hinder the growth of plants. Plastic bags re made of polypropylene which is
produced from petroleum and natural gas. These are both non-renewable fossil
and their extraction creates greenhouse gases that are the leading cause of
global warming.
In monsoon
season canal are closed by plastic. As a result, roads, railway stations even
airport become full of water.
The
Government has put a ban on plastic bags in many states in India but people
continue to use these bags as these are still available in the market. The
Government should take a strict measure. Besides each one of us should take it
as a responsibility to stop using these.
Thus, plastic
bags are ruining our beautiful environment and have become a threat to our
health. It is high time we must stop the use of plastic bags. It is not
difficult to keep a cloth bag with us while going to market. This will go a
long way in keeping our environment clean. I am being a citizen of India I
would suggest that the Government should force the plastic industries for
producing biodegradable bags.
