Call Before u Dig App connects excavators and asset owners to save unintentional damage.

The Call Before u Dig mobile application will connect excavators and asset owners through SMS/Email notifications and click to call so that there are planned excavations in the country while ensuring the safety of underground assets. It seeks to stop harm to underlying assets—such as optical fiber cables—caused by haphazard digging and excavation. According to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) announcement, this results in losses of roughly Rs 3000 crore per year.

It intends to provide excavation contractors with a point of contact so they may learn whether there are any subsurface utilities present before beginning excavation work. Utility owners can also learn about upcoming construction at the site. According to the program, approximately 25,000 underground asset owner offices have so far enrolled on the app.

Automated email and message processes will allow the excavators and asset owners maintain planned collaboration for any digging activity. Quick notifications and timely information will be provided.

According to government statistics, there are one million cable cuts each year in the telecom industry alone. 37 lakh kilometers of optical fiber cable infrastructure in the telecom sector are anticipated to be routed by the CBuD app. Additionally, it will protect the subsurface utilities like electrical wires, gas pipelines, and water pipes from harm.

The prime minister's vision of integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects under the PM Gati Shakti national master plan will be strengthened through this application. An approach that facilitates integrated and synchronized project implementation is the Gati Shakti National Master Plan.

PM Modi also announced Bharat's 6G Vision Document and launched the new International Telecommunication Union in addition to the CBuD app. (ITU). It is the United Nations' specialist agency for information and communication technology (ICTs). It has a network of field offices, regional offices, and area offices, with its headquarters located in Geneva.

Do not misread it as Call Before You Dig, the correct phrase is Call Before u Dig.
