The Call Before u Dig mobile application will connect excavators and asset owners through SMS/Email notifications and click to call so that there are planned excavations in the country while ensuring the safety of underground assets. It seeks to stop harm to underlying assets—such as optical fiber cables—caused by haphazard digging and excavation. According to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) announcement, this results in losses of roughly Rs 3000 crore per year.
